absence

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 18, 2006, 3:48 AM
Due to one thing and another (and epic laziness) I haven't been keeping up with dA or producing much art lately. Shame on me. I shall attempt to go back through my watchlist shortly.

The other day we printed out Booze is Delicious; it's about a couple of metres long, gloriously impractical even for hanging-scroll.

Anyway, I expect to be in eastern Tennessee for about a month and a half, slouching about, hiking in the hills, getting married to =Isquiesque and hopefully doing some drawing while I'm at it; however, I won't have access to a scanner and will be on dialup, so I'm unlikely to get very much finished stuff submitted (though I've got any number of scraps that might get uploaded at some point, should you give a toss). With any luck TN will be a better environment for working in, though, so I hope to get an assload of drawing done.

I'm thoroughly flattered, and (obviously) I share your annoyance at the general direction of mainstream comics (though dA is only really reflecting the world at large, so I don't think it deserves any specific blame).

Anyhow, thanks a lot, and looking forward to more of your stuff, too.

I'm always so happy to see a Comic Artist on DeviantArt that isn't doing generic Manga or Spiderman Pin-ups!

I enjoyed your gallery. You are definately leagues ahead of most people here in terms of your writing and concepts, which is great; that's what makes comics worth reading at all. Based on how ambitious you are with your visual art, I'm sure your abilities in that regard are going to follow shortly.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Aw, I thought we agreed that marriage should change nothing about our interpersonal interaction! Also, we should probably take this fun discussion to IM or something... I just couldn't :poke: you there.

Thanks for the watch!

Try not to stress out about it too much - the nice thing about combining inking with Photoshop is that minor goofs are easily corrected. The number of times I've sketched something roughly, inked it, and drawn a line which really shouldn't be there - it's fixable. I really understand the desire to have polished physical originals, but, y'know, horses for courses.
=Brazilian-Ninja:iconBrazilian-Ninja: Feb 9, 2006, 9:12:05 AM
Hey man, nice stuff there. I like your gallery. I can kinda see where you're coming from telling me to ink and stuff - I'll get some pages inked soon, hopefully. I'm practicing right now - preciseness of my lines are a bitch, I usually erase over and over with the pencil till getting it right, but I'm coming along. I kind of want to color my comics (for the time being) with just shading of pencils though, I would feel bad using Photoshop because in a way I can show people I know how to move around with values manually without a program. But yes - Inking - I'll think about it and get some major pages inked.

Currently working on the sixth page of that comic, I gots to uploads some more - Keep in touch.
